The whole of South Korea stood still for the moment the leaders shook hands on both sides of the border in the demilitarized zone that divides the countries. It was an apparently unscripted moment during a highly choreographed sequence of events.
Few would have predicted a development like this as North Korea had escalated its nuclear provocations through 2017. The rapprochement began in January when Chairman Kim suggested he was "open to dialogue" with South Korea. The following month the two countries marched under one flag at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics.

Armenia's opposition leader has demanded a snap parliamentary election in the wake of former Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan's resignation over widespread anti-government demonstrations.
Nikol Pashinyan told a rally on Monday in Armenia's capital, Yerevan, he is "ready to discuss conditions of Sargsyan's resignation and transfer of power". "The National Assembly shall be entitled to nominate candidates for prime minister within a week. Until then, an interim government will be formed, after that snap extraordinary parliamentary elections are needed," Pashinyan said. The Indian Government is seeking to develop a comprehensive and overarching national policy on e-commerce. The Government’s Department of Commerce has set up a think tank for development of a Framework for National Policy on E-commerce.
India’s e-commerce sector is growing rapidly, with online retail projected to grow to $200 billion by 2026 from $15 billion in 2016. But challenges remain due to poor Internet penetration, inefficient delivery infrastructure in rural areas and financial inclusion issues. India was ranked 83rd in the UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) B2C (Business‐to‐Consumer) E‐commerce Index, 2017, which evaluates the processes involved in an online shopping B2C transaction. A plan being floated among Japan, the United States and South Korea is aimed at the complete denuclearization of North Korea by the summer of 2020.
The three countries are seeking an early end to Pyongyang’s development of nuclear weapons and missiles after past attempts allowed North Korea incremental incentives to halt its nuclear arms program and led Pyongyang to buy time and further develop atomic weapons, the sources close to Japan-U.S. relations said. Bureaucratic and financial reasons are the real cause of the influx of military troops into the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
There are three compelling reasons that forced the PCG to open its gates to the members of the military. The first one is the legal provisions of the Philippine Coast Guard Law of 2009, which defined the hierarchical distribution of the ranks of its officers and the required equivalent ratio to enlisted personnel. The second reason is that the ongoing reorganization of the PCG gives high regards to the professional qualifications, specialized skills, and distinctive competencies of its personnel. Lastly, recruiting former and active military personnel with such experience is more cost-effective than recruiting civilians. The Philippine island of Boracay will be closed to tourists for six months following concerns of damage to its once pristine shores.
The island, known for its white-sand beaches, attracted nearly 2 million visitors last year. The decision has prompted concern for the thousands of people employed in Boracay's busy tourist trade. China strongly condemns and firmly opposes the U.S. tariff proposals and is ready to take countermeasures on U.S. products. The U.S. side published the list in disregard of the mutually-beneficial and win-win nature of the China-U.S. commercial cooperation in the past 40 years, the appeal of the Chinese and American business communities and the interests of consumers.
The move went against the interests of China, the United States and the world economy, seriously violating the basic principles and spirit of the World Trade Organization (WTO). For the first time, the new EROPA website (eropa.co) was ranked in the world's top 0.1% in terms of website popularity. This is a significant improvement when compared to its March 2018 performance, despite earlier forecasts that a domain name change could lessen the number of people being accommodated by our online services. In addition, it currently ranks nationally in the Netherlands, Cambodia, Greece, the Philippines, Japan, India, and Indonesia. The latter four countries are among the largest audience sources for the EROPA website to date. Using the ranking websites Alexa Internet (which ranks only the top 30 million or top 2.5% of live websites) and SimilarWeb, and comparing it with the data provided by Internet Live Stats (which counts the total number of live websites), the EROPA website's popularity has been monitored as EROPA's service range is being improved regularly.
This recent development strengthens EROPA's growing online presence, and the organization's continuing relevance in the digital era. This good pace is expected to be maintained in the near future, considering the 2018 EROPA Conference is fast approaching. We receive feedback through our user experience survey in the main page.
