The 50th session of the Commission on Population and Development will be held at United Nations Headquarters from 3-7 April 2017. Chaired by the Ambassador of Qatar, the session will provide Member States with the the opportunity to discuss issues related to the special theme of the session "Changing population age structures and sustainable development".
This year, the Commission is celebrating its 50th session as well as the 70th anniversary of the first session of its predecessor, the Population Commission, which met for the first time in 1947. Representatives of non-governmental organizations had the opportunity to submit written statements and will be given the floor to make oral presentations.
